Exodia Complete Set: real vs fake
Exodia the Forbidden One is a five-card set – the head, two arms, and two legs – and a "complete set" is only valuable when all five are genuine. Each card must be authenticated individually by its Eye of Anubis hologram, set code, and back, because scammers often slip one fake piece in among real ones. Five cards – five checks
A full Exodia is the head (Exodia the Forbidden One) plus four limbs (Right/Left Arm and Right/Left Leg). A "complete set" is only genuine when all five are real, so authenticate each card individually rather than the set as a whole.
Eye of Anubis hologram on every card
Each of the five cards should carry the silver or gold Eye of Anubis hologram at the bottom-right of its front, shifting under tilt. A missing, flat, or misplaced seal on even one piece breaks the authenticity of the set.
Set codes and releases across the five
The five cards can carry set codes from different releases – that is normal: the pieces have been reprinted dozens of times (LOB, LCYW, LDK2, Duelist League, YGLD and more) and are often sold mixed together, with the head an Ultra Rare and the limbs Commons. Check each card against its own release rather than expecting the set to look uniform; the code font should still be sharp and even.
Card back and alignment on each
All five backs should share the same saturated orange-brown flame swirl with the black oval in the center and align squarely to the front. One card with a shifted colour or heavily off-centre border signals a swap. Beware Orica proxies and OCG/TCG differences.
Print quality on each card
Under a loupe a genuine card gives a tidy rosette dot pattern and accurate colour. Cards from different releases legitimately differ in screen and colour – compare each one to a reference from its own set, not to the others. The real tell of a reprint is blur, banding, and graininess from re-scanning.
